Creative Craft Fair

I got this craft fair' pass yesterday and back today again to get some stuff.

My purpose was Golden Maples Farm's jams but I was still wondering this balsamic vinegar store.
Because I bake French baguette everyday, it will be good to have many kinds of balsamic even though I have one already.

It is $17.00 each.

They let you try their original balsamic, rosemary balsamic, and strawberry balsamic.
I got rosemary' because it tastes nice and sweet, but not too sweet as strawberry's, and I have plain one at home. But definitely others tastes good, too.

They sell some stuff in Victoria,

Ottavio's Deli
St Remo Deli
Niagara Grocery

Ok, now the jams. See this lady (called jam lady) has so many kinds of jams.
It was $5.00 each, 6 for $25.
She let me try and all were good. I also wanted to get their red pepper jam.

Jams looks nice with little X'mas lights.

I got...

Happy mint,
Lime curd,
Oh My God (which is marmalade),
Chardonnay,
Wine+Roses,
Wild Crabapple

5th Street Bar & Wood Fired Grill

Chipotle garlic rubbed pork loin chop $15.00

I wanted to go this pub for a long time but I didn't pick here just because... but I am really grad to be here this time.

Because of the location, I thought they are not very busy restaurant but once I opened the door I notice I was wrong.
It was different world! Full of young to old people, so busy, lively, smells so good!

Of course we had to wait to be seated. While we were waiting, we had beer at their bar counter. (That was the only seat we could stay.)

Mushroom cheese cake $5.00

I wish I could take their kitchen pictures. I just loved their opened wide kitchen. Running fired meats??

Fire-grilled buffalo burger (with Caesar) $10.00

Their foods are so cheap, I don't know how they can keep their food quality. Taste, presentation, quantity, everything is so good.

Japanese Izakaya Wann in Seattle

American Kobe beef Tataki $8.25

Sorry for taking break to post Victoria restaurants for a month.

In Victoria, I don't know any good Japanese restaurant. If you are Japanese, your cooking is way better than Japanese restaurant in Victoria.

Sorry, I haven't been to any restaurans, just baking.
I know it is boring.

Anyway,

Wednesday is gonna be my baking day. Also! golfing day...

"Saint Germain Tendresse", the bakery in Nagoya, I got a really really good brioche from this bakery.
They put custard and chocolate chips between the brioche dough.

I couldn't forget that... and I made it. It doesn't taste even close! I will try with defferent brioche dough.

This Wednesday, I got a friend came over to bake with.
It was the first time to bake buns for her but she did really good and I guess she liked it.

We made some cinnamon rolls and Japanese sweet bean paste buns.

Hamburger buns, Gratin buns

Today was baking day.
I had some hamburger left overs from last night dinner and I made prawn gratin for my husband's lunch.
Sometime when I have dinner left overs, I use them for buns.

Here is direction how to shape left over buns.

Spread the dough and use cookie cutter just like the picture.

And you put anything you want to put inside on to the circle part of dough.

The other part, you spread and make long ring and twist it and make it double.

Now, just surround the left over.
Don't worry if the bottom part and the ring part doesn't touch each other, it will stick when it grow anyway.

This time, I put ketchup and cheese on the top of hamburger.

I wish I had one of the keg.

I feel like I hired models to take that picture... They look good.

For my partner's birthday, we went to this pub.
It has nice harbour view, and totally nice and big inside.

As usual, I ordered a humburger. I don't know when I started to have humburger all the time. I used to not. Very tasty one.
And my husband, he ardered something different this time.

I tried to try, but I was full so I don't know but he really liked it.
I still like butter chicken from Sanuk (which already closed restaurant),
but you know, I am Japanese.
I don't know real Indian taste yet. I have to try real Indian butter chicken one day.

Tandoori Pork

I was thinking.
I want to make a ham.
I have plain yogurt.
I miss tandoori chicken.
I have a pork, no chicken.

This is the combination of tandoori and Ham.

Here is my tandoori recipe.

200 g of plain yogurt
100 g of ketchup
1.5 tsp of salt
1 peace of garlic
2 tsp of curry powder
2 tsp of chili sauce
1 tsp of cumin
1 tsp of garam masara
some black pepper

all mix with pork in Ziploc and let them stay in fridge for all night.
Cook just outside with very hot pan to keep it juicy. Just outside.
ofter that, bake 25~30 min in the oven.

This time, I made roasted peppers, so I wrapped them and Cheddar cheese. You can also use asparagus, beans for green. I just forgot.

I marinated peppers because I roasted too many peppers.
To make this one plate dish takes about half hour.
